Please feel free to send follow-up messages if I don’t respond right away. I try to stay up-to-date, but sometimes I miss things!
Step by Step
Step One: You reach out with design ideas, whenever you want. Via DM, or Email. @riskthrift riskthrift@gmail.com
—————If your request is rejected, you can always ask for other designs! If I am interested in your idea, we can chat about further steps.
Please note* Just because I “accept” your design, does not put you in the queue. Slots are filled on the first of every month.
Step Two: We need to find the garment/materials!
Step Three: Once materials are secured, full or part payment is required. At least 1/4 down payment.
Step Four: You are added to the queue. I will reach out once I get closer to your number.
Read below for more info.
Accepting your
Design
Due to the increase in custom requests, I will only be able to accept designs that will bring me joy :)
Designs I am most interested in:
-Silly Animals, bugs, pet portraits, food, colors, interactive wear+ more!
I have a “SOLD OUT” section on my site for past work, and inspiration.
I am able to complete ~7-10 customs a month, in order to focus on website collections and content creation :)
Feel free to discuss ideas via dm/email!
Getting in Line
Customs are added to the Queue in the order they are fully fulfilled.
(Design, Garment, and Payment)
If you do not complete these steps in time, I will not be able to push you to the following month. You will have to reach back out to snag a spot in line.
I am willing to shift this, on a case-by-case basis. I try not to fill orders several months in advance due to scheduling.
You are more than welcome (in fact encouraged) to reach out prior to the 1st, to figure out what info is needed so you are prepared.
Garments
I can provide options I have on-hand, stored on a Google Photos Album for you to browse upon request.
I try to keep a variety of clothes in stock, but everything is secondhand and not guaranteed.
Plus sizes are unfortunately very limited.
Sometimes the design limits the clothing it can be upcycled onto. I recommend non-stretchy fabrics, denim, sweatshirts, cotton, etc!
Reach out to discuss best options.
You can mail me something secondhand as well! Garments must be dropped off at the post office with confirmed tracking/proof of drop off before you can be put in line.
I do not accept newly purchased garments. They MUST be secondhand.
I will accept anything purchased on ebay/mercari/poshmark etc. However, if you have them mail directly to me, you are responsible for ensuring correct sizing/condition. I will not provide a refund if the garment does not fit.
*I will no longer be able to source clothing directly for custom requests.

Recycled Materials
100% of textiles and garments are thrifted, gifted or found at estate sales.
Garments are washed prior to upcycling.
Textiles may have wear, and stains. I will try my best to show these details to you!
Items like velcro, thread, buttons, grommets are not necessarily secondhand. Though I do thrift them often.
I reuse as many shipping supplies as possible. Friends and family save boxes for me as well :)
Let’s make the world a better place and put secondhand first!
Shipping
United States Shipping is included in custom pricing.
Canada: ~20-40$ USD
International: ~30-60$ USD
I use USPS or UPS cheapest shipping available via Pirate Ship. If you require priority shipping, this will cost extra.
All packages are insured.
Dm/email me for quotes. Pricing is a rough estimate and may change.
There may be additional tariffs or fees incurred on the customer after shipping, in order to receive the package. This is out of my hands, and hard to know when it will happen.
Shipping days are typically Monday + Friday, but I can make exceptions.
Washing
I provide individual care instructions with every garment when shipped.
Every custom is different! Feel free to message me if you have questions or concerns.
Sweatshirts: Generally, machine washable inside out, air dry is best to prevent pilling + wear. Stem is best, don’t iron appliques.
Patchwork Skirts: MUST always be handwashed and air dried.
Screen Printed: Machine wash inside out, cold water. Air dry. Do not directly iron paint.
Always remove ALL removable pieces and LED before washing.
Handwashing and only washing when needed is ultimately best for all cases.
